Address: 900 G St, Arcata, CA 95521, USA
Postal code: 95521
Year Built 1896
Period Victorian
Visualize, for a moment, a large, two story building of pediments, pilasters, arched windows with diamond panes, columns and roof balustrades. That was "Arcata's Pride," her town hall and fraternal lodge, built in 1896 and demolished by the City in 1971. It housed the City's offices, fire department and jail on the street level; the upstairs lodge rooms were used by Anniversary Lodge No. 85, I.O.O.F. and Arcata Lodge No. 106, F. & A. Masons. What a shame to have lost this fine building, which, for more than seventy years, played a leading role in the social, cultural and governmental life of this community
